Caterpillar original Caterpillar 173-9268 diesel fuel injector common rail new injector original new injector

The CAT Fuel Injector 173-9268 is engineered as a direct replacement for the Caterpillar 3126B and 3126E diesel engines operating on the HEUI fuel system. Built to OEM specifications, this injector delivers precise fuel metering, stable spray atomization, and consistent injection pressure for reliable engine performance across heavy-duty industrial and mobile applications. The high-strength body construction and wear-resistant nozzle components are designed to withstand prolonged operation under high cylinder pressure and temperature.

Compatible with excavators, wheel loaders, trucks, generator sets, industrial power units, marine auxiliary engines, mining machinery, and construction equipment, the 1739268 injector assembly fits seamlessly into the original HEUI system without modification. Each unit is available in new or remanufactured supply options, with optional bench testing and export-grade packaging to meet global B2B distribution requirements. Common cross references include 173-9267, 173-9272, 173-9379, 222-5967, 0R-9349, 10R-9238, 188-1320, 456-3493, 456-3545, and 20R-5036.

Routine maintenance is critical for injector longevity, including the use of clean diesel fuel, timely fuel filter replacement, water separator drainage, and periodic harness inspection. Technicians should conduct return flow testing, cylinder cut-out testing, ECU diagnostic scanning, and spray-pattern checks to detect issues such as hard starting, rough idle, black smoke, power loss, and high fuel consumption. Preventive replacement is recommended when injector service hours reach elevated levels.
