Caterpillar original 0R-1745 Pencil Fuel Injector Nozzle for 3406 3408 3406B 3408B 3408C 3412 3412C Excavator Replacement for OEM original new injector

The Caterpillar 0R-1745 fuel injector nozzle is an OEM equivalent component engineered for Caterpillar 3406, 3406B, 3406C, 3408, 3408B, 3408C, 3412, and 3412C diesel engines. Manufactured from hardened alloy steel with a precision-ground needle valve and micron-level machining, this nozzle delivers consistent fuel atomization and long service life under heavy-duty operating conditions. It is designed for use in construction machinery, mining trucks, marine propulsion engines, generator sets, and oilfield equipment, supporting reliable performance across industrial power generation and field operations.

Fuel pressurized by the injection pump enters the injector body, where the needle valve lifts at the calibrated opening pressure to direct fuel through precision-machined nozzle holes. The atomized ultra-fine droplets mix with compressed air in the combustion chamber, enabling efficient combustion that optimizes power output, torque, and fuel efficiency. This high-precision process reduces exhaust smoke, lowers carbon deposits, and improves overall engine responsiveness under demanding load conditions.

Routine maintenance includes the use of clean diesel fuel, timely filter replacement, and regular inspection of exhaust smoke and engine performance indicators. During installation, all injector components should be cleaned, sealing washers and O-rings replaced, and calibration verified following Caterpillar service manual specifications. After assembly, fuel leak inspection and operational engine testing ensure proper function. Diagnostic indicators such as excessive smoke, hard starting, reduced power, rough idle, increased fuel consumption, engine vibration, poor throttle response, and elevated exhaust temperatures may signal nozzle wear and the need for replacement.
