Caterpillar original Caterpillar 222-5968 diesel fuel injector replacement for OEM 3408 3412 engine common rail new injector original new injector

The Caterpillar 222-5968 fuel injector is engineered as a direct replacement component for CAT 3126, 3126B, and C7 diesel engines operating with the HEUI fuel system. Built with precision-machined internal components and heavy-duty construction, this injector delivers accurate fuel metering, fine atomization, and stable combustion pressure required for reliable medium-duty and heavy-duty performance. The assembly supports smoother idle quality, improved engine response, reduced exhaust smoke, and dependable operation under continuous load conditions, making it suitable for commercial transport, construction, power generation, and agricultural applications.

This replacement injector covers a wide range of cross-reference numbers including 2225968, 10R-1306, 10R1306, 173-3922, 1733922, 183-6797, and 1836797, allowing distributors, fleet operators, and rebuilders to consolidate inventory across multiple part listings. It is compatible with medium-duty trucks, buses, excavators, generator sets, industrial engines, and agricultural machinery, and is widely used in diesel repair workshops, remanufacturing programs, and fleet maintenance operations where consistent injector performance and broad engine database coverage are essential.

For correct installation, operators should verify the injector number, engine serial number, and equipment model before fitting, clean the fuel system and injector bore, and replace all seals, O-rings, and washers with new hardware. Following the Caterpillar service manual torque specification, priming the fuel system, and performing leak and return-flow testing after installation helps confirm proper injector function, balanced cylinder performance, and long service life in demanding industrial environments.
