The Caterpillar 20R-2285 fuel injector is an original remanufactured unit engineered to meet OEM specifications for Caterpillar C15, C15 ACERT, C16, and 3406E diesel engines. It cross-references with 10R-1273 and 253-0618, providing a reliable direct-fit replacement for heavy-duty on-highway and off-highway applications including trucks, mining equipment, construction excavators, wheel loaders, generator sets, marine vessels, and oilfield power units.
Built with precision fuel metering technology, this CAT injector delivers high-pressure fuel atomization for enhanced combustion efficiency, improved engine power output, and reduced fuel consumption. The wear-resistant internal components and corrosion-resistant injector body ensure a long operational lifespan even under extreme industrial and marine conditions, while also supporting lower particulate emissions and extended engine service life.
Proper installation requires cleaning the injector bore thoroughly, replacing all seals and O-rings, inspecting the injector harness connectors, and following Caterpillar torque specifications. After installation, the fuel system should be bled, an injector cutout test performed, and any ECM fault codes cleared. For optimal performance, operators should use premium diesel fuel, replace fuel filters regularly, avoid water contamination, and follow OEM maintenance intervals to maintain reliable fuel injection system operation.
